Correction, 3 October 2026: An earlier version of this page described Wabo as another name for Fan-Tan and supplied a history, rules and strategies for a supposed “Wabo” game. The article did not establish evidence for that identification. Those passages have been removed. This guide now separates general blackjack terminology from claims about a brand or platform.
Blackjack is a game; a platform name needs separate verification
Blackjack is a card game in which a player compares a hand with the dealer’s hand under a defined set of rules. Wabo is used as a brand name on this website. That usage does not establish a separate traditional card game, a synonym for Fan-Tan, a set of standard rules or a relationship with a particular casino.
When reading a game guide, identify the exact game and its rules first. When reading about an operator, separately check the operating company, domain, jurisdiction and current terms. The Wabo overview and verification guide explains this distinction without treating a brand mention as proof of licensing or safety.
General blackjack vocabulary
The basic objective is to beat the dealer without exceeding 21. Number cards use their printed value, face cards count as 10, and an ace can count as 1 or 11. A hand exceeding 21 is described as a bust. These general terms are useful for reading a rule sheet, but a short overview cannot substitute for a particular game’s complete rules.
- Hit and stand: Taking another card or keeping the current hand.
- Double down: An option, where permitted, to increase the stake and receive a limited additional card under that game’s rules.
- Split: Treating a qualifying starting pair as separate hands when the rules allow it.
- Soft hand: A hand in which an ace can count as 11 without exceeding 21.
Why exact rules matter
Deck count, the dealer’s treatment of a soft 17, the payout for a natural blackjack, and the availability of splitting or surrender can vary. A general article should not present one decision chart as universal or imply that a named platform offers a specific rule set without evidence. Changing the amount staked is also not a promise of recovery or profit.
The house-edge explainer describes the difference between a long-run mathematical model and an individual outcome. Understanding vocabulary does not make a session predictable.
Do not infer legal availability from a website
The previous blanket claim that several licensed online casinos offer these games in Singapore was unsupported. In its 8 April 2025 parliamentary reply, Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs identified Singapore Pools as the sole licensed provider of remote gambling services in Singapore. A website being reachable is not evidence that its services are authorised.
Check the current official rules applicable to your location and activity. This page does not confirm Wabo’s licensing, game availability, a partnership with a named venue or the existence of private Wabo clubs. Do not use alternate access routes to bypass a restriction.
Keep information separate from a promise to win
Claims about secret methods, inevitable recovery or guaranteed returns require scrutiny. Read the guide to questioning guaranteed-win claims. Avoid chasing losses or using money needed for essentials, and step away if gambling causes distress. This article provides terminology and verification guidance, not a recommendation to gamble.
