AMK Hub Road Changes: What to Know Before 14 November

AMK Hub road changes are planned from 14 November 2026, LTA announced on 16 October. The Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 changes support Cross Island Line recovery works. They have not started as of 16 October.

When will the traffic changes start and finish?

The planned period runs until May 2028. CNA’s 16 October report says the approximately 18-month duration reflects current assessments and may change as recovery work progresses. Treat it as a planning window, not a guaranteed completion date.

What changes for drivers around AMK Hub?

The official LTA notice and route diagrams set out the affected section and access arrangements:

Announced arrangements from 14 November 2026
Location or accessPlanned change
Eastbound sectionBus-only between the AMK Hub pick-up/drop-off point and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.
Westbound carriagewayThree traffic lanes reduced to two.
Mall accessBasement parking and pick-up/drop-off remain accessible; pick-up/drop-off entry and exit arrangements change.
Peak-period arrivalLTA estimates an additional 10–15 minutes for motorists entering AMK Hub.

That delay estimate is not a uniform allowance for every journey through Ang Mo Kio. For a timed appointment, plan around the part of your trip that actually uses the affected access, rather than adding the same number to every route.

What should pedestrians and bus passengers check?

Bus-stop access will remain available, with barrier-free accessibility maintained. However, CNA reports that the eastbound footpath will close and pedestrians will be diverted through AMK Hub. A pedestrian crossing will move, and ground-level access to the overhead bridge on the mall side will close. Access through Level 2 of the mall is available during mall operating hours. Covered links are planned where practicable, rather than guaranteed along every diversion.

If you use a wheelchair, walking aid or pushchair, check the signed accessible route for the time of your visit. Do not assume that a route through a building is usable at every hour. When arranging a meeting, agree on a specific accessible entrance instead of relying on an old meeting point.

Why is the road layout being changed?

LTA says underground obstructions associated with ground anchors interrupted tunnelling. Investigations and recovery measures, including stabilising the ground, are needed before work can safely proceed. The authority is still assessing the implications for the wider Cross Island Line construction timeline.

The important distinction for readers is between an engineering investigation and a confirmed revised railway opening date. This road notice should not be used to invent a new opening schedule.

A practical checklist before travelling

  • Check the date first. Compare your journey date with the implementation date, and look for any newer notice before setting out.
  • Identify your actual destination. Parking, a taxi drop-off and a meeting inside the mall are different access questions. Check the relevant diagram instead of relying only on the headline.
  • Plan both arrival and departure. An entrance you used previously may not describe the route for leaving. Discuss the agreed pick-up point with your driver or companion.
  • Keep instructions available. Save the official notice for reference, but follow current on-site signs if a saved image no longer matches the layout.
  • Allow for unfamiliar walking routes. If someone needs assistance, organise it beforehand and leave time to locate the appropriate crossing or entrance.

This guide summarises the announced access changes; it is not a live traffic feed or turn-by-turn route map. Recheck LTA’s notice closer to your visit, particularly if you have a fixed appointment or specific accessibility needs.
