Updated 12 October 2026, Malaysia time.
The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games run from 18 to 24 October in Japan, but Malaysian fans should start checking competition schedules earlier: Para badminton and blind football are scheduled to begin on 16 October. The overall Games dates and individual sport dates serve different purposes. Paralympic Council Malaysia lists the Games period; the Asian Paralympic Committee’s previews provide the badminton and blind football dates.
This WABOMY.NET viewing guide brings together key dates, a Malaysian player to follow and practical time-zone checks.
Key dates for a Malaysian viewing calendar
| Event | Dates in October 2026 | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Opening ceremony | 18 October | Japanese Paralympic Committee |
| Para badminton | 16–23 October | Asian Paralympic Committee preview |
| Blind football | 16–23 October | Asian Paralympic Committee preview |
| Closing ceremony | 24 October | Japanese Paralympic Committee |
This is a selection of key dates, not a complete daily timetable. Save the ceremony dates separately from the sports you want to follow, then add individual sessions when their current listings are available.
Para badminton: Cheah Liek Hou is a Malaysian name to follow
The Asian Paralympic Committee’s 9 October preview names Malaysia’s Cheah Liek Hou among the field. It notes his men’s singles SU5 gold medals at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. That record provides background for following his campaign; it does not establish a result or medal prediction for Aichi-Nagoya.
The preview lists Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi as the badminton venue, with 151 players from 22 nations competing across 22 gold-medal events. Source: official Para badminton preview.
When checking a player’s schedule, match the name, event and sport class to the daily listing. A tournament date range alone will not tell you when an individual player is on court.
For a refresher on games, matches and service courts, see WABOMY.CO’s guide to badminton scoring. It explains standard badminton basics. Check official Games and sport guidance for Para-specific classification and event details.
Blind football also starts before the opening ceremony
The 5 October official preview places blind football at Nagoya City Tsuruma Park Multipurpose Sports Field, also called Terraspo Tsuruma. It lists 48 players from six nations. Source: Asian Paralympic Committee blind football preview.
For viewers interested in several sports, an early-start calendar is useful: check the sport-specific programme rather than waiting for the opening ceremony to begin following the Games.
Convert Japan time to Malaysia time
Japan Standard Time is UTC+9 and Malaysian time is UTC+8, so Japan is one hour ahead. Subtract one hour from a time labelled JST to get the time in Malaysia. The offsets are confirmed by Japan’s NICT and Malaysia’s National Metrology Institute.
- 10:00 am in Japan = 9:00 am in Malaysia
- 3:00 pm in Japan = 2:00 pm in Malaysia
- 8:00 pm in Japan = 7:00 pm in Malaysia
These are conversion examples, not announced session times. Check the time-zone label first; a website or calendar may already display a converted local time.
Check the session and coverage before settling in
Use the Asian Paralympic Committee for official Games news and Paralympic Council Malaysia for Malaysian updates. Before watching, confirm the event, round, start time and date on the latest sport schedule.
A Malaysian television or streaming provider was not verified for this guide as of 12 October. Check a provider’s current listing for the specific session before relying on it or paying for access. Keep the competition schedule and the broadcast programme separate when planning what to watch.
